Christmas holiday closure

Please note that the CLIC will close early at 2.30 pm on Friday, 23 December for the Christmas Holidays. We will reopen after the holidays at 8.30 am on Monday, 9 January 2012.

Early closure

Please note that due to the severe weather today, and in line with the rest of the College, the CLIC will close at 12.00 today (Thursday, 8 December). Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Public sector strike

Please note that due to the public sector strike on Wednesday, 30 November the CLIC will be closed all day on that date in line with the rest of the college. Apologies for any inconvenience that this might cause.

October Week opening hours

Please note that during the October Week holidays the College Learning Information Centre will be OPEN but with restricted opening hours.

We will be open from 10am - 4pm each day from Monday 17 October until Friday, 21 October.

College meeting

Please note that the College Learning Information Centre will be CLOSED from 3.45 pm - 5.15 pm on Wednesday, 5 October to allow staff to attend an important college meeting. Apologies for the disruption to our normal service.

September Weekend holiday

Please note that the CLIC will be CLOSED from Friday, 23 September until Monday, 26 September inclusive due to the September Weekend public holiday.

Opening hours at beginning of new session

Please note that the opening hours of the CLIC for the period, Thursday, 11 August - Friday, 19 August, are as follows:

Monday: 8.30 - 17.00
Tuesday: 8.30 - 17.00
Wednesday: 8.30 - 17.00
Thursday: 8.30 - 17.00
Friday: 9.00 - 16.30

After this period we will return to our normal term-time opening hours which are:

Monday: 8.30 - 17.00
Tuesday: 8.30 - 20.00
Wednesday: 8.30 - 20.00
Thursday: 8.30 - 17.00
Friday: 10.00 - 16.30

Staff well-being day

Please note that the CLIC staff will be taking part in the College Staff Well-being Day next Wednesday, 22 June 2011 and so the CLIC will be CLOSED all day on that date. Apologies for any disruption that this may cause.

Unwanted books

If you have any course books which you no longer need we would be happy to take them off your hands and make them available to new students next session. So why not declutter now and help out future students at the College?

Summer holidays deadline

Please note that ALL library resources need to be returned to the College Library by FRIDAY, 24 JUNE at the latest. The College Library will be open during the summer holidays with restricted opening hours (notices with precise details will be posted shortly) but no borrowing of resources will be allowed in this period unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Referencing & bibliographies guide

We now have an updated guide to referencing and bibliographies which includes sections on how to cite different types of resources using both the Numeric and Harvard systems, how to use various referencing tools in Microsoft Word 2007 and tips on how to keep notes. This updated guide is available in printed form from the CLIC and in electronic form from the guides section of our website at:

Referencing & bibliographies guide update

We have just updated our guide to referencing and bibliographies. This guide is available in both printed form in the CLIC and in electronic form, from the guides section of the CLIC website. In this guide I have now added a section explaining how you can easily insert citations (in various styles) into your Word 2007 document and then, with a click of a button, create a bibliography listing all the citations which you have inserted.

This guide is just a small excerpt from the online course, Research & Study Skills, which I have written and updated for Office 2007, and which is freely available via Blackboard to all staff and students.

Wireless Internet access now available at the CLIC

In addition to our own computing facilities the CLIC now offers wireless Internet access which allows you to surf the Web on your own Internet-ready device. The wireless network is named, LITEhouse, and you should be able to automatically detect and connect to this wireless network. If you do require any help with this then please contact us at the Issue Desk.

Closure of CLIC for staff meeting

Please note that the CLIC will be closed from 15.45 - 17.15 0n Wednesday, 9 February to allow staff to attend an important college meeting. We are sorry for this disruption to our normal service.
